A Normal Chaotic Spirit Week

Ayla Cameron, Guest Contributor

This week at James Monroe is spirit week. It’s a week full of crazy looks, messed up schedules, and chaotic normalcy. For all of those who remember high school life before the COVID era, you may remember Homecoming dances, spirit weeks, and fun times to work and socialize with your class. Because of the complications of COVID, our last spirit week didn’t occur until the very end of February, and beginning of March. It was as chaotic as ever, but so much was missed out on.

This year we’re seeing more and more of things going back to how it used to be. Thankfully, spirit week is aligned back up with normal homecoming times. Here’s each day’s theme for the week:

Monday: Monochrome; grades wear all of their assigned colour.

Seniors- Pink

Juniors- Blue

Sophomores- Yellow

Freshman- Orange

Tuesday: Country VS. Country Club

Wednesday: Widescreen & Decades; dress up as your favorite character, or as different decades.  There is a Lindside Parade for homecoming at 6:00 PM.

Thursday: Tropical

Friday: Maverick Pride

At 2:00 PM there is a Pep Rally. The Homecoming football game starts at 7:30, and the Homecoming dance starts at 9:30 PM and ends at 12:00 AM.  Tickets for the dance are $5 a person.

With all of these events going on, it seems like we’re going back to normal, well, chaotic normal!
