Military Appreciation Week

Do you know a family member, friend, or friend of a friend who has served in the Military? Have you thanked them for their service? If people had not joined the military to fight for our country, America would not be what it is today. In fact, we might not even be our own country, or have democracy, or have the Constitution with its rights. We should all take a moment this week, to honor those who served, whether dead, or living; and we should continue to honor those who will serve, because they risk their lives for the betterment of our nation. In fact Dr. Womack, a teacher at our school, served in the U.S. Army and his son Josiah serves today.  Major Longanacre and Master Sergeant Wiley, MCTC teachers, are also U.S. Army veterans.  Our very own Deputy Heller, served in the U.S. Marine Corps prior to joining the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.  Every year James Monroe High School graduates join the ranks of one of the military services and continue the proud tradition of selfless service to the nation.  We appreciate our veterans!
